Dr. Mark Plunkett is a leading physican at the Hospital of Illinois, and a visiting professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He has over 25 years of experience in medical training, and hands-on experience in a variety of medical specialties. Dr. Plunkett has received specialized training, hands-on fellowships, and has been employed at some of the finest medical centers, institutions, and universities in the country, including Duke University and the University of North Carolina. Dr. Mark Plunkett has been the recipient of multiple awards in his field of specialties. He has also been instrumental within the public and medical community researching the latest breakthrough technology in transplant transportation, which promotes the continued functioning of the organs during transport for transplantation.
Dr. Plunkett has several degrees from and served fellowships at some of the finest medical higher institutions in the country. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Duke University and a degree in medicine from the University of North Carolina. He completed his residency in G.S. at UNC as well. He then spent the next 10+ years becoming accredited in the following specialties: Thoracic Procedures, Lung Transplants, Vascular Procedures, and Cardiovascular Disease.

Corazon de Esperanza
Dr. Mark Plunkett frequently goes on missions with Corazon de Esperanza. The goal of this group is “to provide hope to orphaned youth, at-risk teens and impoverished women of Northern Peru through the support of orphanages, schools, youth and women’s programs, short term mission trips and volunteer programs”.

Working with ICHF, Dr. Mark Plunkett has used his passion for helping others and medical expertise to cure and care for youth with congenital diseases in developing nations.
Camp Del Corazon
Dr. Plunkett has also made a great impact working with the charity and mission group Camp Del Corazon. This summer camp on Catalina Island was established for youth. Dr. Plunkett and other volunteers provided medical supervision so these young individuals can enjoy their time at summer camp.
